What's new this winter in Morzine
From the ski area to what's fresh in resort
As winter takes hold in Morzine we take a look at what's new in town and on the slopes.
Early signs of snowfall here in The Alps are creating much excitement for the upcoming winter season. The ski industry here is raring to go and this winter looks like being an exceptionally busy one. Morzine Les Gets ski area opens on the 21 December and ski passes are on sale.
Energy saving initiatives
The current rise in energy costs is offering the resorts an opportunity to fast track many of their eco/environmental sustainable initiatives for example LED lighting, optimising the speed of ski lifts, the addition of GPS systems in the snow groomers for added efficiency
Morzine Avoriaz has held the prestigious Flocon Vert label since 2021, reinforcing their sustainable commitment of current and future good practices in mountain tourist destinations.
Winter tyres
A reminder that it is now mandatory from 1 November to 31 March to have winter tyres (M&S marking, or all weather (four season) tyres), OR at least two snow chains/socks in the vehicle when driving in the mountain regions in France, following a law introduced from November 2021.

Snowpark has moved
The Eagle Park has been moved this winter to the Freux piste at the top of the Têtes chairlift which has a nautral snow accumulation each winter, making it a great spot for the snowpark. The boardcross Eagle Park remains just above the Nyon plateau.
New piste maps
Les Gets and Morzine have made a few changes on the pistes so there is a new piste map published. Check our maps page to download
Respecting the environment
To help reduce the amount of artificial snow produced, the snowpark modules are shaped out of earth, this is part of the Flocon Vert label awarded to Morzine in 2021 to respect the environment.
In addition to this, another sustainability investment in Morzine has been replacing the fleet of nine piste bashers with Snowsat machines. The resort continues to provide training in efficient driving and usage to remain environmentally friendly.
In the resort
New routes for shuttle bus
The free winter bus service starts this season on 13th December and runs until 20th April 2025. In an effort to improve the traffic flow on the Avenue de Joux Plane, the A line (between Prodains and Morzine) will split into two different routes when it gets into the village at the cemetery roundabout.
The first will take the regular route to the Pleney along the Avenue de Joux Plaine, the second will finish at the Palais du Sport. It’s hoped that this modification will ease pressure on the streets of Morzine in the mornings and offer faster access to Avoriaz.
Welcome back Le Petit Train
The popular petit train will return to the streets of Morzine this winter. It will operate between 08:45 and 17:45 every day with a service between the Pleney Télécabine and the Super Morzine lift.
Go dog sledding around Morzine
Explore the Manche valley in Morzine with Quentin and his sled dogs. A great experience lasting for about an hour, gliding through snowy landscapes for anyone over the age of two.

Childrens zone moves to higher altitude

Access the new location via Les Granges blue piste then on the Charniaz chairlift which takes you to the top of the Choucas cruisy blue piste through the trees.
Pinguin Park
This childrens area at the top of the Pleney has new modules and games to occupy the kiddies this winter.
New covered magic carpet
At Les Chavannes mid-station in Les Gets the existing magic carpet has been extended by over 20 metres and given a cover ready for this winter in the Mappy's beginners area. This new longer and faster carpet now has the capacity to move up to 1200 people per hour.
