Le Roc d'Enfer

A big climb to one of the highest peaks, leading to an exposed traverse

Roc d'Enfer is one of the highest peaks in the valley, providing extremely challenging hiking and rewarding you with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and Lac Leman.

With an altitude increase of 920m, the walk to the peak will take around 6h30 and is only recommended in good weather. With the trail consisting of crumbling rocks and soil along with narrow paths, it is important to be careful throughout this hike. At the top you will be rewarded with spectacular views over the valley and incredible views of Mont Blanc. The route does not require climbing equipment but is on the top end of difficulty.

Directions

From the Graydon hamlet in Esseert Romand take the footpath that climbs upwards through fields before reaching the Chaux de Vie valley, from where you'll see the Roc D'Enfer that sits above. Continue towards the Col Ratti which will provide spectacular views of Mont Blanc and numerous mountain peaks. Head down through an open field to Col de la Basse and continue to Les Praz. Take the path and continue towards Plan de Criou and cross the fields at Les Places before you return to the Graydon hamlet.
